Reason Is Imperfect

Reason then, as we see in history, is not perfect also. But St. John Paul II has explained in Fides et Ratio that faith has a reason of its own that we can reflect upon also. So Kant saying that reason's limit is just phenomena is partly incorrect. God revealed himself. We cannot but accept the reality that has taken place on earth. But faith is not a reasonless endeavor. It's just that Kant tried his very best to create pure ethics and saw that it has problem perfecting itself without the help of God's revelation. We cannot deny what has already happened. It is already part of reason itself.

I had problems before with existentialists who also tries to explain this life by reason alone. And it failed dramatically that it even aligned with my previous suicidal tendency. Reason is limited. We no longer need to create our own set of values from nothing. Have you been given so many things to choose from and have been anxious what to choose? (Like how we started our phenomenological reflections not knowing what to do with our career anymore, maybe due to so many options overwhelming us.) Since you are free, you've been given the responsibility to create your own life. And whatever you choose seems to be meaningless since it is imperfect. If only I could I would like my life to be this way and not that way. We don't want imperfection it seems. But God did not created it that way. Recall we have given God the benefit of the doubt that he has already tried to create other universe other than our own which has no freedom. And it sucks. The valuation of this life God has already created. God has done it for us. We are created beings anyway if you don't remember anymore.😅 It is really difficult to act like God since we have limited capacity which we have pointed all throughout our discussions. That's why St. Thomas describe the Supreme Being further in his five ways as Prime Mover, First Cause, Necessary Being, Supreme Good, Intelligent Orderer. What is absurd is denying there is no God, denying the help he has already given humanity through his revelation. It will really make life absurd since we don't have the capacity to make it meaningful from nothing. But we can discover meaning from something or Something. We can therefore discover the meaning of this life. You did not create the universe right? Then don't act like one since the real Creator has already revealed himself in Christ. Let us not absolutize freedom the way Sartre did. Why? Because we are not an Absolute Being and is that simple. Or if you want to make it complex you have to put yourselves in Sartre's shoes.😃 Although we've been challenged by Jesus to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect, it doesn't mean we will create our own valuation. Jesus has already stated those valuations in clear words without any rational limitations since he is Perfect Man and Perfect God. The Word has been revealed. It is up to us if we will believe or don't believe and in the end battle against God's plan and join Satan's team.

Sadly metaphysics because of its difficulty without revelation has swerved from so many directions. And like a quantum computer, goes on all directions of all kinds of multiverse God has not created since this world we now are living in is actually the best of all possible world. This universe including human beings is nonetheless imperfect.

I am then inviting you my friend to study Christian ethics rather than pure ethics or Marxist communism which has created its own metaphysics erroneously. And like St. Therese little act, any small act of goodness done by a free imperfect human being is very beautiful in God's eyes better than a perfect being that doesn't sin or has no weakness but is not free.
